We are India’s premier institute for the treatment of lymphedema, lymphatic filariasis, and other chronic skin diseases. We are proud to be the world’s first to develop a scientifically-proven integrative treatment protocol that combines modern medicine with yoga and Ayurveda for the effective treatment of various skin diseases.
The Institute of Applied Dermatology (IAD), a not-for-profit organization, is India’s premier healthcare institution offering integrative treatment for Lymphedema and other chronic skin diseases. Established in 1999 in Kasaragod, in northern Kerala, we have developed the world’s first integrative medicine combining modern medicine with Ayurveda and yoga for the successful treatment of Lymphedema, Lymphatic Filariasis, Breast Cancer-related lymphedema and other chronic skin diseases like Psoriasis, Lichen Planus, and Vitiligo. Over the years, we have successfully treated over 6000 patients from across the world.
Our integrative treatment protocol has been published in the world’s most reputed scientific journal, the “British Journal of Dermatology,” for its effectiveness in treating lymphedema caused by Lymphatic Filariasis. We have conducted extensive clinical studies and published scientific papers on four important diseases—Lymphatic Filariasis, Lichen Planus, Vitiligo, and Psoriasis. In 2010, a WHO publication on integrative medicine named the Institute of Applied Dermatology as a leading global lymphology clinic.
In 2014, the Government of Kerala established its “Centre for Integrated Medicine and Public Health” in IAD under a public-private partnership to further research, development, and community dermatology activities. We are also the centre of excellence for lymphedema recognised by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The National AYUSH Mission under the Government of India has adopted our treatment protocol as part of a public health program to effectively manage lymphedema caused by Lymphatic Filariasis or other reasons.
Since 2022, we have been implementing a free treatment project for poor lymphedema and lymphatic filariasis patients in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The project is being funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and supported by the Ministry of AYUSH, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh state governments. The free treatment centres have been established at Varanasi and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, Patna and Begusarai in Bihar.

To continue promoting integrative medicine and holistic health by collaborating with research organizations, doctors, scientists, paramedical experts, social workers, volunteers, and medical professionals from around the world. To improve the quality of life for patients worldwide through compassionate care, education, and equal access to our treatments.
We are actively involved in collaborative research to build data-driven clinical evidence for integrative medicine backed by physician-scientist models. Clinicians of allopathy, ayurveda, yoga, nurses and scientists work as a team, leading to innovations for the better care of difficult-to-treat and chronic patients.
