Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease that presents with red, itchy and scaly patches which may vary from a small-sized lesion in one or two areas to the entire body including the head, palms, arms, genitals, Knees, elbows, soles or nails. Injury due to scratch may increase the lesions which are termed as Koebners phenomenon.

Psoriasis is not a contagious disease. It can be triggered due to consumption of certain medications, excessive alcohol, cigarette smoking, obesity, scratching the lesions, genetic predisposition, psychological stress and sometimes environmental factors.
